PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF POSITION: Provide direct services to residents in emergency shelter setting for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Provide coverage of 24-hour hotline. Provide peer counseling and information and referral to callers and clients. Supervise general house operation during the shift in order to ensure quality service delivery.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Complete initial residential orientation for clients entering emergency shelter as well as exit processes

• Manage the daily activities of emergency shelter by assigning chores, supervising chores, ensuring that community living guidelines, rules, and policies are adhered to by residents.
• Serve as mediator to assist residents with conflict resolution skills.
• Assist residents with food services such as preparation and serving of meals as needed and facility cleaning as needed.
• Oversee the safety, security, and general welfare of residents and facility during assigned shift, including being on-call as required.
• Answer 24-hour hotline in order to provide telephone assessments/service eligibility, crisis intervention, peer counseling, and information and referral.
• Ensure proper protocols are followed, screen incoming calls in order to ensure client confidentiality, and log hotline calls.
• Ensure appropriate records are maintained regarding clients and service delivery and prepare reports.
• Attend meetings and training as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain professional conduct and represent the Agency in a professional manner.

EDUCATION: Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, persons with special needs, community resources, and crisis intervention techniques required; strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills required; high level of personal integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and tact is necessary; strong team work skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse populations needed; highly organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities with ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines; Shift work consisting of non-traditional hours to include nights and weekends required.

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Answer 24-hour hotline in order to provide telephone assessments/service eligibility, crisis intervention, peer counseling, and information and referral.

• Ensure that hotline calls are properly documented and logged and that proper protocols are followed.

• Screen incoming calls in order to ensure client confidentiality.

• Input data into client database for current clients and hotline calls.

• Maintain resource information for agency services and community partners to provide to callers and clients for effective referrals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Advocacy

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Maintain knowledge and awareness of shelter operations, agency services, shelter census, and overall residential program priorities.

• Maintain knowledge and awareness of non-residential office operations, services, and priorities.

• Provide support and information to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault regarding options available in the criminal justice system and assist the client in accessing their chosen course of action.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Resident Advocacy

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Complete initial residential orientation for clients entering emergency shelter which may include, but is not limited to completion of intake paperwork, completion of a needs and goal assessment, explanation of house guidelines and programs to clients.

• Follow-up with clients, as needed, to ensure that clients are receiving appropriate services, peer counseling, information and referrals.

• Complete exit processes from emergency shelter with residential clients.

• Manage the daily activities of emergency shelter by assigning chores, supervising chores, ensuring that community living guidelines, rules, and policies are adhered to by residents.

• Serve as mediator to assist residents with conflict resolution skills.

• Assist residents with food services such as preparation and serving of meals as needed and facility cleaning as needed.

• Oversee the safety, security, and general welfare of residents and facility during assigned shift, including being on-call as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Record Maintenance and General Administration

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Ensure appropriate records are maintained regarding clients and service delivery.

• Maintain accurate record of working hours, mileage, etc.

• Prepare records or reports as required.

• Ensure that all needed repairs are brought to the attention of the Maintenance and Janitorial Technician.

• Provide orientation, supervision, and information to volunteers and new employees when such are assigned to your shift.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Perform other duties as required by the Hotline Services Coordinator, Residential Services Manager, Deputy Director, and the President and Chief Executive Officer.

• Attend meetings and training as directed by supervisor.

• Maintain professional conduct and represent the Agency in a professional manner.

EDUCATION: Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. At the discretion of the President and CEO, substantial experience in a shelter setting or in case management may be substituted for educational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, persons with special needs, community resources, and crisis intervention techniques required; Computer illiterate with proficiency in Microsoft Office products strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills required; high level of personal integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and tact is necessary; strong team work skills and ability to establish rapport with diverse populations needed; highly organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities with ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines; non-traditional hours required to include nights and weekends.

Purpose/Function of Position: To provide information, supportive services, and advocacy to victims/survivors of sexual assault. The Advocate will work within all counties served by the agency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Client Support Services

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Provide peer counseling and advocacy to victims of sexual assault.

• Complete an intake as outlined in the agency handbook, including a needs and goals assessment, safety plan, and legal needs assessment; assist with appropriate program referral based on the assessment and complete follow-up to ensure the client is receiving and participating in appropriate services. Document all activity in client record and Osnium database.

• Explain agency policies, guidelines, and programs to clients as needed.

• Ensure accompaniment of client to hospital, police/sheriff departments, court proceedings, etc., as appropriate and necessary.

• Provide support and information to victims of sexual assault regarding options available in the criminal justice system and assist the client in accessing their chosen course of action.

• Refer clients to other social service agencies for additional services as appropriate.

• Assist clients in filing crime victims’ compensation claims.

• Assist sexual assault clients in filing victim compensation claims and accessing Statewide Automated Victim Notification Service (SAVNS).

• Act as liaison with other agencies/entities on behalf of clients, as required, either directly or through assigned volunteers.

• Transport clients to the shelter facility when needed.

• Meet with criminal justice officials, social service workers, law enforcement, etc., to inform them of services offered by the agency.

• Distribute educational materials, which will inform abuse victims of the rights and services available to them.

• Utilize volunteers to assist with advocacy and accompaniment.

• Provide training to volunteers and new staff as requested.

• Ensure that appropriate records are maintained regarding clients, service delivery and reporting requirements.

• Ensure that an accurate record of working hours, mileage, etc. is maintained.

• Ensure that an accurate work record for volunteers is maintained.

• Prepare reports as requested/required by Leadership team.

• To perform any and all duties as requested by the Sexual Assault Services Manager, Deputy Director, and President and CEO.

• Attend all meetings and training as directed.

• Maintain professional conduct and represent the Agency in a professional manner.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in social service or related field preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge regarding dynamics sexual assault preferred; excellent oral and written communication skills to include public speaking; high level of personal integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and tact is necessary; computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products; highly organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities with ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines; non-traditional hours to include some evening and weekend hours required; some travel requiring a valid driver’s license and a personal, insured vehicle for use on the job required.

Purpose/Function of Position: To provide individual and group counseling to adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and to ensure quality service delivery. The position will be part-time at 30 hours per week.

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Provide individual/group counseling for presenting clients.

• Provide individual/group counseling for presenting clients during evenings and weekends based on client availability and agency needs.

• Advocate for clients by providing appropriate referrals for services with other agencies, and by providing information to clients, which enable them to improve their quality of life.

• Accompany clients to court as requested and as possible.

• Interpret to clients the services offered by the agency and to facilitate their entry into any program component as appropriate.

• Assist with group development as opportunities/needs arise.

• Develop and maintain a working relationship with local universities.

• Interview potential practicum students/interns and place as appropriate.

• Provide training to students regarding agency philosophy and appropriate counseling techniques.

• Provide on-going supervision and training during the individual’s practicum/internship.

• Complete intern evaluations as appropriate and necessary.

• Make public appearances, as assigned, to interpret to the community, the services of the agency.

• Participate with other staff in long-range planning as requested, to ensure continuing quality service delivery to clients and the community.

• Ensure that professional case records are maintained for clients and reporting requirements.

• Ensure that an accurate record of work hours, mileage, etc. is maintained.

• Ensure timely preparation of reports as requested.

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in human service field. LPC or LMSW preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge regarding dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault; excellent oral and written communication skills; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred; high level of personal integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and tact is necessary; computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office products; flexible and able to manage multiple priorities with ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines; non-traditional hours to include some evening and weekend hours possible; some travel requiring a valid driver’s license and a personal, insured vehicle for use on the job required.
